The film takes place 60 years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions (2003). Neo (Keanu Reeves), now living an ordinary life as a video game developer named Thomas Anderson, struggles to distinguish fantasy from reality. A group of rebels, aided by a programmed version of Morpheus, free Neo from a new version of the Matrix and fight against a new enemy that holds Trinity captive. The story follows Neo’s journey as he begins to experience strange memories and visions, hinting at his past life as “The One” who freed humanity from the Matrix. As he delves deeper into his past, he meets Bugs (Jessica Henwick), a young woman who helps him uncover the truth about the Matrix’s current state. They discover that the Matrix is running old code in a loop, reliving the moment when Trinity first found Neo.
